Call for Applications: Drivers (03 Positions) – SAFECARE Project, Shwari Health Cameroon

 Shwari Health Cameroon is a local non-profit dedicated to innovative, evidence-based solutions that strengthen health systems—particularly for children and adolescents living with HIV. In partnership with Georgetown University’s Center for Global Health Practice and Impact, Cameroon’s Regional Technical Groups, and funded by CDC/PEPFAR, we are launching SAFECARE-Cameroon, a five-year initiative to expand and sustain facility- and community-based HIV services across PEPFAR-supported regions.

Position Overview

• Job Title: Driver, SAFECARE Project

• Locations: Yaoundé or Bertoua, Cameroon

• Openings: 3

• Reporting to: Logistics & Administration Officer

As a SAFECARE driver, you will ensure safe and efficient transport of personnel, medical supplies, and project materials. You will also support vehicle upkeep, maintain accurate records, and assist the logistics team in day-to-day fleet management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Transportation & Safety

   • Convey authorized staff and materials in SHAC vehicles, adhering to traffic regulations and organizational security protocols.

   • Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and stocked with emergency supplies (first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, spare parts, etc.).

2. Basic Vehicle Maintenance

   • Perform routine checks (oil, coolant, tire pressure) and minor repairs; coordinate major maintenance with the Fleet Supervisor.

   • Keep logbooks, maintenance records, and monthly vehicle reports up to date.

3. Fleet Coordination

   • Schedule weekly servicing and inspections according to SHAC policies.

   • Liaise with the Supply Chain team to prepare monthly local purchase orders (LPO) for spares and consumables.

4. Reporting & Compliance

   • Notify the Field Logistician of any breakdowns or incidents immediately.

   • Contribute a monthly summary report detailing activities, challenges, and recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Secondary school certificate or vocational training in vehicle maintenance (preferred).

• License: Valid Category B driver’s license (C/D advantageous).

• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience; experience with international NGOs is a plus.

• Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Yaoundé/Bertoua road networks and basic automotive mechanics.

  • Fluency in French; working knowledge of English.

  • Ability to work under pressure and comply with strict safety standards.
