Job Offer : Contractor – Regulatory Affairs (MTN Cameroon)

MTN Cameroon is seeking a Contractor – Regulatory Affairs to join its team for a 1-year contract. The role will focus on supporting MTN’s East to West (E2W) expansion project and ensuring regulatory compliance in the target Francophone markets.

Mission / Core Purpose of the Job

The Contractor – Regulatory Affairs will play a key role in driving MTN’s business establishment and license applications in the Francophone regions. This position will support the development and execution of regulatory strategies to ensure smooth entry into these markets and ensure successful regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement regulatory engagement strategies for Francophone E2W markets to ensure successful business establishment and license applications.
• Handle documents and correspondence in French and ensure efficient business translations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate regulatory applications and memoranda.
• Assist with external regulatory stakeholder management in the target Francophone markets.
• Identify and manage regulatory risks across all markets in which MTN operates and its target markets.
• Work closely with both Group and Opco regulatory teams.
• Support the management and monitoring of corporate governance rules as per the legislative framework.
• Maintain regulatory reports and ensure compliance with Group reporting requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and support lobbying efforts with relevant authorities.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor of Law (LLB) or other recognized law degree.
• Admittance to a bar council.
• Fluency in both English and French is essential.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Regulatory Compliance and Regulatory Engagement across the African continent, preferably within telecommunications, technology, or digital sectors.
• Experience working in diverse cultural and geographical settings.
• Previous experience in a telecommunications environment is highly preferred.

Competencies:

• Familiarity with pan-African laws and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of business practices and proficiency in IT tools for business operations.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Team player with strong attention to detail.
