About SHWARI Health Association Cameroon
SHWARI Health Association Cameroon (SHAC) is a nationally registered non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative, evidence-based solutions to health system challenges in Cameroon, with a specific focus on children and adolescents. By applying proven community strategies, SHAC ensures the identification, treatment, and long-term support of HIV-positive individuals, especially among vulnerable populations.
SHAC operates in partnership with Georgetown University’s Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI), the Government of Cameroon, and Regional Technical Groups (RTGs), under the SAFECARE-Cameroon Project – a five-year CDC/PEPFAR-funded initiative aimed at strengthening facility and community-based HIV services across supported regions.
Position Summary
The Clinical Mentor/Facility Doctor will support the implementation of HIV services at health facility level. Working under the Regional Program Manager, the role involves providing direct patient care, mentoring healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to national guidelines, and supporting the implementation of project strategies across 2 to 4 assigned health facilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. HIV Care and Treatment

Deliver high-quality HIV treatment and care in line with national ART guidelines.

Supervise psychosocial workers, data clerks, and HIV care staff.

Participate in weekly facility data reviews and ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Provide clinical mentorship to facility staff to strengthen capacity in HIV management, PMTCT, TB/HIV, and other related services.

Ensure assigned facility targets for HIV case finding, linkage, and retention are met.

Support the review and improvement of HIV-related reports and indicators.
2. Program and Site Management
-
Act as the key liaison between SHAC, health facilities, CBOs, and district teams.

Lead mentorship and oversight for CBOs, APS workers, and data teams.

Facilitate collaboration with KP, OVC, and other stakeholders through the handshake model.

Support Quality Improvement (QI) projects and ECHO learning sessions.
-
Assist in preparing facilities for PEPFAR SIMS evaluations.
-
Coordinate outreach, weekend clinics, support group meetings, and related activities.
-
Ensure timely disbursement and reporting of activity funds.
Required Qualifications and Experience
-
Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, or Midwife with HIV-related training (HNP preferred).
-
A Master’s Degree in Public Health is a strong asset.
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HIV care and treatment, including PMTCT.
-
At least 3 years’ experience in program implementation, clinical mentoring, and quality improvement.

Solid understanding of Cameroon’s health systems.
-
Experience working with public health officials and PEPFAR-funded programs is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural setting.

Fluent in French; working knowledge of English required.

Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
