Job Overview
As part of INTERPOL’s Environmental Security (ENS) Sub-Directorate, the Criminal Intelligence Officer – Wildlife Crime will play a vital role in combating the illegal trade and exploitation of wild flora and fauna. This role is key in coordinating investigations, facilitating intelligence sharing, and supporting member countries to identify and dismantle transnational wildlife crime networks.
Key Responsibilities

Information Management: Enhance the exchange of criminal intelligence through INTERPOL’s secure information systems.

Operational Support: Initiate and follow up on wildlife crime investigations with member countries.

Operational Planning: Support the coordination and execution of international operations targeting environmental crimes.

Liaison Function: Serve as a point of contact for National Central Bureaus, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders regarding investigative support and information requests.

Meeting Facilitation: Organize and facilitate law enforcement coordination meetings.

Representation: Attend and represent INTERPOL at national and international conferences and events related to wildlife crime.

Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training programs to strengthen international enforcement capabilities.

Other Duties: Carry out additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
Education & Training
-
University degree in social sciences, natural sciences, law, or related fields.
-
Formal law enforcement training with specialization in wildlife or environmental crimes.
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 years of professional investigative experience in wildlife or environmental crime.
-
Demonstrated experience in evidence handling, interview techniques, and case preparation.
-
Familiarity with regional and international law enforcement procedures.
Languages
-
Full professional fluency in English and French is required.
-
Knowledge of a third INTERPOL official language is a strong advantage.
Skills
-
Excellent oral and written communication.
-
Proficiency in IT tools, databases, and report writing.

Ability to present findings in a clear and professional manner.
Special Aptitudes
-
Experience in cyber-investigations, digital forensics, or technical surveillance is an asset.

Ability to manage tasks independently under pressure and tight deadlines.

Strong networking and mentorship capabilities.
