The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Yaoundé is currently hiring a highly skilled Data Analyst to support its mission in implementing the 2030 Agenda and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This position is part of the UN Development System reform launched by the UN Secretary-General on January 1, 2019, aimed at making the UN more effective and efficient at the country level.

About the Role
Under the supervision of the Senior Development Coordination Officer – Strategic Planning and RCO Team Leader, the Data Analyst will play a key role in optimizing data collection and analytics systems. The selected candidate will work closely with internal UN entities and external stakeholders (agencies, NGOs, consultants) to improve statistical efficiency and support strategic decision-making through actionable data insights.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement data collection systems, databases, and analytics strategies that enhance data quality and usability.

Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.

Design dashboards, reports, and visual tools to communicate findings clearly to decision-makers.

Draft technical documentation and guidelines for internal data practices and methodologies.

Coordinate with data engineers and scientists to streamline data pipelines and improve data quality.

Lead the creation of data-driven products such as newsletters and briefings.

Support capacity-building activities including staff training in data analytics tools and best practices.

Contribute to projects by conducting robust data analysis aligned with strategic objectives.

Education

Required: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, information systems, or any other related quantitative field.

Accepted: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) with relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the Master’s.
Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis or a related field is required.

Proficiency in data storytelling and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or R is required.

Proven ability to perform quality assurance and validation of data analysis outputs is essential.
-
Experience in database management, ETL (extract, transform, load), and translating business requirements into technical solutions is desirable.
Languages
-
Fluency in both English and French (oral and written) is required.
-
Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
